since you said you got an error while loading the activity i guess you will be able to either intrecept the action flow via middleware or listening in a saga to the error action (geta12.com/docs Client: Api - ActivityActions.error) and directly close the issued activity afterwards.

Other possibility would be to add some error boundary in there, see:
