I get internal errors while committing my print models using PrintModelEditor 2.1.1:
If I add preconditions that include “FieldFilled” or “FieldNotFilled” to a Switch field in a PrintModel, I get two internal errors when committing:
- “The print model pre-compile failed”
- “The pending changes could not be committed to the print model”
As a workaround I tried creating multiple fields with corresponding hide conditions. However, I get the same errors when I use “FieldFilled” or “FieldNotFilled” in the hide conditions.
Because “FieldNotFilled” and “FieldFilled” are shown as examples for Switch preconditions and hide conditions in the A12 documentation, I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Hi,
there is an issue with Print Engine 2.2.2 and 2.2.3 which might also affect 2.2.1 (A12-17428, fixed for 2.2.4 and later).
Does your document model name that is used for the print model include a hyphen “-”? If yes, remove this character and the issue should be fixed.
Thanks! Is the issue fixed for 3.1.0 or would we still need to rename our document models?
Hi @linda-static-arch
Could you also confirm that you referenced the Document Model in the Path.
I just created a test model and when I forgot the Document Model name (PrintSwitch_DM) in the path, I saw the same error message as you.
With the Document Model name in the Path, I could commit the conditions as you can see in the screenshot.
We use hyphens in the Document Model names.
And yes, the document model was referenced.
And maybe also important to mention: the error only occurred when referencing the field and not when referencing the fields value.
Okay, then that sounds more like the Bug ticket that @henner-grey-void mentioned.
This is fixed for SME 11.7.0 including Print Engine 2.2.4 provided by Installer 2024.06-ext6 and we also tested it using SME 12.0.0 including Print Engine 3.0.0 provided by Installer 2025.06. As a result you can choose any of the following options:
- Remove hyphens from the Document Model names
- Migrate to 2024.06-ext6 (non-breaking)
- Migrate to 2025.06 (breaking)
