Hi,
We demonstrated different Modeling strategies to deal with changing Business Logic and Data in the last Monthly Modeling Highlight.
The use-case was based around the change in Value Added Tax in Germany from 19% to 16% in 2020. We presented modeling strategies that included:
- Adapting a Computation Rule
- Adding a Field
- Computing the Value of the New Field
- Setting the Value of the New Field in the Form Model
- Setting the Value of the New Field in a Workflow Process
- Adding Heterogeneous Subtype Models
- Adding Models to allow Data to be managed at runtime and accessed using Composed Data Models
At the end of the meeting, @ansgar-golden-timber asked,
“Do we have any examples from real projects and details of how these projects managed this change in the law?”
Any real-world examples that I find will be added to this thread but I should also remind you of the great development in the modeling platform that happened since 2020.
- Computations and Initial Values were valid Modeling strategies in 2020.
- Workflows had just gone productive in 2020 but all the Modeling support that we now have due to the A12 Templates in the Camunda Modeler was not available.
- Heterogeneity was Productive and this solution was valid in 2020.
- Relationships were a productive part of A12 in 2020 but Composed Data Models we not available to Modelers in 2020. This was not a modelable solution at that time.
Happy Modeling!
