Number field with strange error message

Hi.
I do some experiments with the Number field. I don’t understand this error message:

Hi @stefan-cached-grove, the validation error “Amount fields may only specify zero or two fixed decimal places” on the top of the field editor means either:

  1. You have an amount field with zero decimal places:
    Min. Decimal Places=0, AND
    Max. Decimal Places=0
  2. OR, you have an amount field with two fixed decimal places:
    Min. Decimal Places=2, AND
    Max. Decimal Places=2.

Ok, so “Amount” numbers always have a fixed decimal place, so a document value must have this characteristic too for a “valid” field.

What is the background of the modal error message: “Only the texts of enumeration values may be invalid”? I don’t get it.

The error message “Only the texts of enumeration values may be invalid” only makes sense together with the previous part “The field cannot be saved in the current state”: If you have a validation error in the field editor, like in your case, you can not save the field, but if you would have an enumeration field with validation errors in the localized values, then you could save the field (that’s why “Only the texts of enumeration values may be invalid”).
In the A12 version 2024.06-ext2 (SME 11.3.0), the whole error message was changed to “The field cannot be saved in the current state due to serious validation issues.”.
