What exactly is a field configuration? You can define a label for a control both the level of “field configuration” and of “control”. If I have both set “control” overrides “field configuration” otherwise I see whatever is set. The doc simply says ““Field configuration” allows you to set a configuration label for the field” which doesn’t explain anything.
Field Configuration sets the label for all controls that reference that field on that form model.
Control sets the label for that specific control.
It means that you have a hierarchy of labeling

Use the Control label if present

Use the Field Configuration label if present in this form model for the referenced field

Use the label from the Document Model
