A12 is upgrading all infrastructure pieces as soon as they are available and as soon as our breaking change management allows it. We have started this effort in 2020.02 and upgraded KeyCloak, Oracle, Postgres, Solr, Camunda,… based on this policy. We are currently only able to test DS with only one version of Oracle or Postgres since we only support officially one version of Oracle or Postgres per A12 release. AFAIK there are no requirements to support more than one version of Oracle, Postgres, KeyCloak or Solr per one A12 release. DS, UAA nor WF are using any special new features from Postgres therefore we expect that also older versions of Postgres should work. Also our migration to newer version of Postgres is very smooth so we have not found any problems yet. This being said we do not test with older versions therefore we cannot claim that we support it.
The requirement to support more than one version of postgres per A12 release would pose significant efforts on our testing and maintenance of test environment. If <PROJECT_NAME> requires this there must be a ticket created and we can start looking into this.
I just stumbled over this, and I would prefer you only specify the major version for Postgres that you test against. Specifying a specific bugfix (minor) version might be confusing unless you do rely on a bugfix that is only available starting with that minor version.
